Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back for the second half of the 2006-2007 school year here at St. Joseph High School. Here is an update of some of our upcoming events.

Rapture Marine

Our trip on the Rapture Marine vessel is soon approaching. We are scheduled to depart St. Joseph School by 5:30 am on Monday, February 26th on our way to Kona. We will be aboard the Rapture Marine vessel from 8:00 am on Monday to 6:00pm Wednesday evening. Due to the number of participants that have been booked aboard the boat during our dates the final tuition for the trip is $395. This will cover the three days on the boat as well as transportation to and from Kona. The remaining $295 of the tuition for both students and chaperones is due no later than Tuesday, January 23, 2007. If you paid more than the $100 deposit last semester, please adjust your current payment accordingly. If you did not sign up and pay a deposit, but are now interested in going please send a check for the full amount. Checks should be made out to St. Joseph High School.

More information will be forthcoming concerning trip itinerary and packing list. Parents and students should be aware that 3rd quarter progress reports will be issued February 6th and any students earning Ds or Fs in any classes will be required to conference with me and Sr. Marion to discuss eligibility for the trip. Feel free to contact me by phone or email if you have any questions or concerns about the upcoming trip.

Science Fair

This Thursday, January 18th is St. Joseph High School’s annual science fair presentation and competition. Our students have worked very hard over the last semester in preparation for this event and have turned out some excellent projects that exemplify the scientific method. The science fair competition will be going on during the school day on Thursday, and will be open for the general public in the gymnasium until 6:30pm. We hope you can attend this event in support of your student and all of the participants in this year’s science fair.

Thank you for your continued support of your student and St. Joseph High School as we strive to provide exciting and enriching opportunities that broaden student’s horizons in science,

Katie Virkus
